I Can't Take It Anymore

Blair Duluoz

Whatever you took from me, don't give it back—
I don't want it.
It's your responsibility now. Have fun with that—
Now you own it.
If I could see how things were meant to be, I'd keep myself in tact—
Obey love's wit.
There are things in life we can't control—
Can't predict it.

Time spins revolutions around me—
It's disorienting,
I don't know which way to go.

And the sands of Chance move beneath me—
My foundations,
I can't count on anymore.

I can't take it anymore—
Just tell me what I need to know
To loosen up and let go.

I can't take it anymore—
Can't tell what's real or not,
What's ruins or what's rock.

Open up my mind and take your time—
The glare of headlamps, cameras, and flashlights
Beats down my soul...

Take what you will,
I have nothing to give.
Say what you feel—
Break down doors of expectation.
And I'll take the stars,
Build an empire just for you.
But, I can't take this
Waiting around forever.

"Life's a carousel," they say,
And I'm stuck on it.
And anytime I blow away,
I'm back where I started,
Making rounds on the notion of self-remedy—
And there's no Dramamine to help with rides like this.
"Might as well have a good time," she says, "At least try it—
You never know, you never know, you never know, you never know..."

"What lies below,
Beneath our cracked skies."

There's a place I know like paradise—
Or something.
It's supposedly perfect and pristine—at least,
That's what they told me.
I don't know what it's like, but I'll tell you one thing:
It sound's boring.
I can't spend eternity doing nothing
Forever.

Time spins obligations around me—
It's disorienting,
I don't know which way to go.

And the song and dance expedite me—
My arrangements,
Can't discern anymore.

I can't take it anymore—
The mighty rush and clock,
Days fall to eternity.

I can't take it anymore—
I've stacked my cards against me,
Can't pull another lease.

I can't get out, I'm surrounded—
All the tax collectors chasing after me
Beat down my soul...

Take what you will,
I have nothing to give.
Say what you feel—
Break down doors of expectation.
And I'll take the stars,
Build an empire just for you.
But, I can't take this
Waiting around forever.

Break another glass, and break the day—
If you can bear it.
Words flow through the teeth of the foolish,
So I stay quiet.
Voices mow through my ears—it's getting
Hard to ignore it.
Gonna have a good time—
"At least try it,
You never know, you never know, you never know, you never know..."

You never know...
