Bring Back the Flood

Blair Duluoz

What is this place?
Who among you can tell me what it is?
You say I've changed—
Well, I'm not gonna tell ya, honey, why that is.
Lookin' round so strange...
I guess ya didn't notice when it went from mine to his.
We've only got ourselves to blame:
We always knew that it would go down like this.

"How can it be," she asks of me,
"That we've been overtaken?"
We've gotta get back to where we once was
Or else we'll be forsaken!

You cry, "I see the streets
Awash with blood!"
Well, I say,
"Bring back the Flood!"

"It's time to go."
Butcha never will tell me just what time that is.
While, down below,
I hear the queen a-shoutin' out, "Well, let the games begin!"
It don't matter though:
The cards are stacked against me—I can't win.
There's some things only Time knows,
But we'll find out soon enough, my friend.

"How can it be," she asks of me,
"That we've been overtaken?"
We've gotta get back to where we once was
Or else we'll be forsaken!

You cry, "I see the streets
Awash with blood!"
Well, I say,
"Bring back the Flood!"

There's somethin' happenin'...
Y'know, it's got the Shadows whisperin'—
"Oh, can this be the end?"
Well, I don't know, but it sure does look like it.
The howlin' winds
Are tellin' me, "Get out while you can!"
'Cause Suffering's
Unchained, and, y'know, she's lookin' for revenge!

"How can it be," she asks of me,
"That we've been overtaken?"
We've gotta get back to where we once was
Or else we'll be forsaken!

You cry, "I see the streets
Awash with blood!"
Well, I say,
"Bring back the Flood!"
